One of the most emblematic brands of João Portugal Ramos, Marquês de Borba combines the tradition of Alentejo with an enormous quality, present since the first harvest of the brand in 1997. The name arises from the happy coincidence of the vineyards and winery of João Portugal Ramos being located in sub-region of Borba, and of an uncle having the noble title Marquês de Borba, this title created in 1811.
The Vinhas Velhas range, of limited edition, is the most recent of the Marquês de Borba brand and is produced from the oldest vines, planted around the family home, in the 80s, near the castle of Estremoz. After 1/3 of the alcoholic fermentation, the wort is transferred to new and used barrels where the fermentation is completed. Aging for 8 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels.
