Description

The Madeira wine has been crafted from the vulcanic, sub-tropical Portuguese island named Madeira, located some 400 miles off the Northwest African coast. The Blandy´s are unique in being the only family of all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade to still own and manage their wine company, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811.

Blandy´s Malmsey 5 years is produced with the rich-styled Malmsey - the most famous of the Madeira varietals, located today in the region of São Jorge on the North of the island. Matured at the Blandy´s Wine Lodges in the center of Funchal, this wine has a unique and complex bouquet of toffee, honey, wood and dried fruit. It is best savoured after a meal on its own, or with desserts, to appreciate its mellowed robust character to the full.

Cor âmbar clara com tons dourados. Um bouquet de frutos secos, baunilha, madeira e toffee com um final suave, doce e um excelente equilíbrio entre a fruta e a acidez.

Suggestions

Blandys 5 year old Malmsey is fined and does not require decanting. It is a superb accompaniment to dessert dishes, especially fruit, cakes, rich chocolate puddings and cheeses. It has been bottled when ready for drinking and will keep for several months after opening.
