Description

The Casa da Atela Castelão Vinhas Velhas is a red wine produced on the southern bank of the Tagus River, in the municipality of Alpiarça, at Quinta da Atela, which spans 580 hectares, 150 of them vineyards. It features the Carvalhita plot, a unique vineyard resulting from the crossing of Castelão Francês and Trincadeira Preta. Fermentation takes place in small stainless-steel lagares after 24 hours of cold pre-maceration, followed by 12 months aging in French "Allier" oak barrels, half new and half second-use, ensuring elegance, structure, and aromatic complexity.

Nota de Prova

Ruby color, with aromas of red fruits and small berries, complemented by some balsamic and light toasted notes. On the palate, it is intense and full-bodied, with ripe, silky tannins, and an elegant, very fresh, and intense finish.

Suggestions

Perfect to pair with grilled red meats, roasts, game dishes, or mature cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C, and decant to fully enhance the wine’s aromas, freshness, and structure.
